If your world grows, you can switch plans from the panel without losing your save. A restart scheduled every few hours, as on official servers, keeps memory under control.

What you can adjust from the panel

serverDZ.cfg and the mission XML files can still be edited by hand if you prefer.

  • Steam Workshop mods

    Add the Workshop IDs of your mods from the panel: the server downloads them, installs their keys and loads them at startup, then updates them at every restart. Server-side mods are declared separately.

  • Loot economy, zombies and vehicles

    The mission files (types.xml, events.xml, globals.xml, cfgspawnabletypes.xml) define the rarity of every item, the number of zombies and vehicles, animals and events. They can be edited from the panel file manager.

  • Game rules and BattlEye

    First or third person view, crosshair, voice chat and its quality, personal light, server password, mod signature verification: the serverDZ.cfg options are exposed in the panel. BattlEye is enabled by default.

  • Day and night cycle

    Starting time, time acceleration, separate acceleration for the night and persistent time between two restarts. Shorten the nights or play a realistic survival.

  • Chernarus, Livonia, Sakhal

    The map is chosen in serverDZ.cfg: Chernarus by default, Livonia included in the base game, Sakhal for players who own the Frostline expansion. A wipe is done by deleting the mission storage folder from the file manager.

  • Updates, restarts, backups

    The server is updated through Steam at every startup, so it stays compatible with clients after a DayZ patch. Restarts and backups are scheduled from the panel, with restore in a few clicks.

What is a DayZ server host?
A DayZ server host provides the infrastructure (machine, network, anti-DDoS, backups) needed to run a dedicated server that is reachable at all times, without one of the players having to leave their computer on. HelloServ adds a management panel, Workshop mod installation and 24/7 support. The DayZ servers are for the PC version (Steam).

Which DayZ plan should I choose?

A vanilla server on Chernarus or Livonia runs well on our first plan; a long Workshop mod list, a modded map or a heavily enriched loot economy need more memory, because the DayZ server keeps items and the active areas around players in RAM. If your server grows, you can switch plans from the panel without losing your save.
How do I install Steam Workshop mods?
From the panel, add the Steam Workshop IDs of your mods in the dedicated variable, then restart: the server downloads the mods, installs their signature keys and loads them at launch. Mods are checked and updated at every startup. Server-side mods (admin tools, economy) are declared separately. Players need the same mods enabled in the DayZ launcher.
Chernarus, Livonia or Sakhal?
Chernarus is the default map. Livonia is now part of the base game, and Sakhal, the snowy map from the Frostline expansion, can be played if your players own the expansion. The map is selected in the serverDZ.cfg file (template line) from the panel file manager. Changing map means starting a fresh world: back up first.
