Without a dedicated server, the game stops when the host logs off. With a hosted Windrose server, the world stays open: everyone joins with the invite code whenever they want and finds their ships and base. The publisher recommends 4 players, the server accepts up to 10.

What is a Windrose server host?
It is a service that runs the Windrose dedicated server for you, 24/7, on a machine in a datacenter: your world stays reachable even when nobody in the crew has their PC on. At HelloServ, the server is hosted in France, with a panel to start it, set the invite code and password, and manage its files.
Why host a Windrose server in France?
For latency: a server in France answers quickly for players in France and Europe, which matters in fights and boarding actions. HelloServ hosts its Windrose servers in its own datacenter in France, with anti-DDoS, automatic backups and 24/7 support.
Which Windrose plan should I choose?
Start from the number of players: Lite (6 GB) for 1 to 2, Start (8 GB) up to 4, the number the publisher recommends, Plus (12 GB) up to 6, Pro (16 GB) up to 10. Memory grows as the world gets explored and your ships and bases are built: you can change plan from the panel without losing the world.
How does my crew join the server?
In the game, choose to connect to a server and paste the invite code shown in the panel (setting "Invite code", which you can change). Prefer an IP address? Turn on direct connection in the panel: your players then enter the server IP and port, and the code no longer works.
Can I bring over a world started on my PC?
Yes. Stop the server. On your PC, each world has its folder in %localappdata%\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\(your ID)\RocksDB_v2_Backups\World. Upload that folder to R5/Saved/SaveProfiles/Default/RocksDB_v2_Backups/World on the server (file manager or SFTP), put its name in WorldIslandId in R5/ServerDescription.json, then restart: the server loads the backup marked _Latest.
My players can no longer connect after a game update, what should I do?
The server must run the same version as your players' game. Restart it from the panel: automatic update (on by default) installs the new version before launch, and your world is kept. The same goes for Ashlands, the big update announced for this winter.

What can I set from the panel?
